Monday 5/3/07
I was DEAD bored by MONDAY. i ran out of things to do. and so i decided to go to school to cure my boredom. HAHAHA! why school? Heck! i also donnoe. Itz better to go somewhere than juz sticking my ass at home. So after checking the notice board for any announcement of DRP results (sadly there was none!! boo hoo! ) i head of to the library to watch some DVD. With the
'WIDE SELECTION' to choose from, i decided to settle for this japanese movie "Nobody Knows" aka "DARE MO SHIRANAI". It was interesting story definitely but the ending was a bit dissapointing. A sad and touching story. i almost cried watching it!!! =~( The mother is such a damn %$$#^%#$$&^%& Hahahah! seriously! confirm if you watch it you will have the same reaction as me! A mother who just POOF away and ditch her 4 children for some rich guy! The mum was enjoying the richness while her children was patiently waiting for her return. It was sad when the eldest son found out about it.

In "Nobody Knows" Hirokazu Kore-eda's ("After Life," 1998) new film based on a true story, twelve year-old Akiro assumes the parent role to his two sisters and brother when their mother leaves them. Akiro's siblings are not allowed to leave their small Tokyo apartment or even be seen because the landlord doesn't know about them and they could be evicted. The mother, Keiko (played by Japanese TV star, You) leaves a note with some money for Akiro saying she will be gone for a while, and leaves for weeks. While she is gone the two oldest children dutifully continue their housekeeping routines and the younger children quietly amuse themselves with playing and drawing. The children are all kind to each other. Their mother pops back in but soon leaves again saying she'll be back for Christmas, but she never returns. Akiro adapts to his mother peculiar, erratic behavior with his increasingly compliant and responsible behavior. It's as if he thinks that if he is just good enough his mother will change and come back to take care of him. Like all children of mentally ill and neglectful parents, it's all they know, and they learn to adjust to their reality. Kore-eda nails the character and the family dynamics. The mother looks like she is barely past her teens. She doesn't seem to have a care in the world and has a blissful ignorance of her adorable children's basic emotional and physical needs. She speaks with a lilting, babyish voice with a saucy tone which gives clues about the way she relates to the world, her internal conflicts, and her unmet early needs. Keiko thinks her children are cute and amusing. When she comes home drunk early one morning, she wakes them up and has fun playing with them. But, when she wants to spend time with her new boyfriend, she easily leaves the children for weeks at a time. The mother has a string of unstable relationships and chooses men who aren't good for her. All four of her children have different fathers. None of the children have ever attended school. Almost everything Keiko does is in the service of what is good for her. She isn't able to transcend herself and empathize with the children she brought into the world. In a pivotal scene in which Akiro confronts his mother she is surprised and asks, "I'm not allowed to be happy?" The children never stop longing for their mother. When the children realize that she's not coming back, Akiro transforms into a de facto parent figure, starting discussions at the dinner table and fretting over utility bills. At one point his social activities distract him, but he gets back on track. As the world bears down on Akiro, Kore-eda uses tight shots to reveal his intensity and valiant effort. When Akiro goes in the street to do errands, wide shots remind us of how diminutive and helpless he is in the big world. When the children finally leave the apartment after several months, Kore-eda uses bright light to signify unbearable freedom. The plants the children grow from seeds on their veranda represent hope and the nurturing they long for from their mother. Most of the scenes in this 2-1/2 hour film linger a at least a couple of beats too long; it's hard to know Kore-eda's purpose for this; but perhaps that is part of why "Nobody Knows" lingers in my mind.

Followed Zorro to Pasir Ris to ask about her Hep B blood test (she waited for a month and yet there is still no news about it). Luckily the poly was able to get her blood test result after making a few calls and her results was faxed over. What ever happen to the letter they were suppose to send?? Heck i also dont noe. So next stop was to SGH. I went for some blood screening test to see whether i was a compatible donor. Thanks ZORRO for the company!! Met up with the QUEEN of NARNIA (apparently this "self- proclaim queen" friend of mine is always in
HER OWN LA-LA LAND) at Paya Lebar to eat lunch at Jeewa (is this how u spell it??). according to QUEEN, there is a S-HIM working at Jeewa. Too bad the S-HIM wasnt there. awww man!!!Wednesday 7/3/07
Met up with lalali (aka Razali) and nadifa. First stop was the National Museum to check out the "Families & Friends- A Singapore Album" exhibition. Very interesting pictures and nice displays they have there. Next we head to plaza singapura to have a super late lunch at BK. Lalali was full of nonsense la! his lame-ness and sound problem juz keep making me and nad laughing! So we kept on talking about everything under the sun till 7 plus (i think) afterwhich we head home.
Thursday 8/3/07
Started baking cupcakes at 6am in the morning! I had to make 100 pieces la! By the time i finish it was 1230hrs. Afterwhich i went to bathe again coz i need to rush for my DRP briefing which was at 2pm. The cupcakes was for my mum's friend (she wanted to give it and in the end i end up doing the work -___-") Hahahh! so while waiting for the cupcakes to bake, i was re-watching naruto episodes!
So the briefing was the same as the previous drp breifing. BLA BLA BLA. Thank god we dont have to sit in for the AS4 briefing again! (ALL THANKS TO DAVID!!!). Next, me, ming boon and nisha went to TM just to slack around for a while and end up playing the arcade! The first game was the DAYTONA. AHEM AHEM. I got 1st placing, ming boon got 2nd and guess what placing did NISHA get??? 3rd?? WRONG!!! itz the
29th position! wahahahahahahah! me and ming boon jus keep laughing till our stomach hurt!! But damn, this NISHA tyco sia for the table game (i donno what izzit called). me and ming boon against nisha . 2 vs 1. and we

Friday 9/3/07
Had DRP briefing regarding the project we are doing. And my group have to do an addtional stuff la!! on top of performing the 2D Gel analysis, we are suppose to do the growth curve also la! and growth curve will cause us to go back super late la!!! There could even be a possibility of staying overnight in the lab to just monitor the damn bacteria growth!!!! -____-" BAIK SAK!!!
So after lunching at LJS, we (shahirah, mingboon, ishin, zahirah, me) head off to Suntec for the IT fair. WE had a lot of fun teasing ming boon on the train! (she happen to be the victim since Nisha wasnt there!) I collected some brochures on wireless routers. We continue walking till our legs hurt and decided to sit and rest! we did some stupid stuff like taking weird pictures and weird videos. (too lazee to upload the pics from my phone) After sending ming boon off to meet her family members, the rest of us head home.
Saturdae 10/3/07
Had some mentoring course WHICH WAS SIMILAR to the basic mentoring course which i attended 2 years ago! The jokes were the same. only this time around i dont find it funny. HA-HA! So BLA BLA BLA! IT finally ended at 1 pluz.
So me nisha and zahirah head of to the NTU and NUS open house. met ishin at clementi and NUS was the first stop. The NUS open house was ok i guess EXCEPT for the SCIENCE School exhibition. It was so
EMPTY and
DEAD. No enthusiasm at all. tsk. not poly friendly at all. hmmph! so dissapointing!
NTU open house really gave me a very EXCELLENT impression. Firstly there was no annoying Helper shouting with their high pitch screeeching voices on the mikes saying "WELCOME WELCOME!" [this happened at NUS. It gets annoying after a while], secondly the exhibition was superb!, thirdly the teachers/prof/lect were very friendly, fourthly itz POLY Friendly!!, fifthly the science school project show was superbly done! interesting project was shown like staning our own cheek cell, p53 cycle research etc and sixthly we were given a personal tour by assistant professor brendon onner to his research lab and the teaching lab. he showed us his research on his stem cells research on nuerons which was so SUPERLY COOL! The training labs were equipt with the latest equipments (some of this equipments is not available in our AS4 lab).
And the best thing about this asst proff is that he encourage us to send an email to the head if we wanna get attach to NTU labs as part of our attachment! we really felt welcome in NTU. and yes i shall work my ass off to get to NTU. im really pumped with excitement but when i think about my this semester's performance, maybe i wont stand a chance. haiz....
The only common annoying thing about this 2 uni is they have the open house AFTER poly admissions to uni is closed. like what the hell! how are we suppose to decide what degree we wanna pursue when we are not even sure!!! STOOOPID u noe!
Sunday 11/3/07
Went to suntec AGAIN. but this time to purchase my wireless router. IT WAS DAMN PACKED LA! I had to queue from the bridge just to get to suntec. In the IT fair itself was worst. horrible sia. i even forgot to purchase my toner for my laser printer -____-" and i didnt get to buy my external hard drive. damn. aniwaes! im proud to announce I set up the secured wireless thingy by myself!! YEAH!!! AND NOW i can surf from any part of my house!!!
Monday 12/3/07
Went back to school for DRP training. BLA BLA BLA.
Tuesday 13/3/07
Went back to school again at 9am to prepare the LB Broth and Agar and some other training. Only finished at 6pm. TIRED SIA!!! and damn. the release of exam results is tomoro!! THE DAE IS HERE!! DOOMS DAE! Pray hard for me ya!!! i just dont have the confidence of passing. and this is giving me chills down my spine. man.
